True meaning of a 'hero'

Couldn't have said it any better.

Fort Campbell Courier:

A hero is a person with great courage and strength who has made some sort of sacrifice; notice I did not say a fictional character with bizarre super powers or overpaid athletes and actors. I mean come on, does it really take courage to win a Super Bowl or an Oscar? I'll admit it does take a tremendous amount of talent to do these things, but not courage.

Puerto Rico II

us&pr

About a year ago I posted about the status of the island of Puerto Rico. Well, in the ending months of 2006, there is new news about this issue again now being heard in the US Senate committee. Once again there is still a major issue here in that the people who want Commonwealth, Statehood, and Independence(t) just can't agree with one solution to this problem.

from PRWOW:

"If there any way that you at some point can agree, maybe in issues not related to status like education or health?" asked U.S. Sen. Robert Menéndez at the end of the hearing held by the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

"Without a doubt," answered Gov. Aníbal Acevedo Vilá, of the Popular Democratic Party, which obtained the current relationship with the United States 54 years ago.

"The status issue requires a resolution," he said. "In this process, it is necessary to say the whole truth to the Puerto Rican people."

Let me just say that Gov. Acevedo is an idiot and should be last to talk about 'truth' and 'resolutions'. That's a whole other issue, though.

Resident Commissioner Luis Fortuño asked Congress to approve a plebiscite that allows Puerto Ricans the opportunity to start a definitive process of statehood for the island.

"We have earned that right," said Fortuño, of the New Progressive Party, which supports statehood. "We deserve the consideration of Congress to our request of a just and legitimate process to exercise our right of self-determination."

Good. I think He is the only one that gets it.

Puerto Rican Independence Party President Rubén Berríos said commonwealth is notthe solution for the status of the island, which has been a territory of theUnited States since the war with Spain in 1898.

"Democracy and colonialism are incompatible," he said. "Democracy cannot exist when the basic laws of a country or territory are determined by another country."

Again another idiot. This is the voice of PR now actually since there are so many young adults now the college kids who wear their che t-shirts (half don't even know who he was) are believing this bullshit from the schools that the island should be Independent. Sort of like the colleges here where the professors teach the garbage of anti-Americanism daily. Sickening.

I don't know to me I just think it should become Statehood it's been a long time coming, but at the same time Commonwealth is still wanted by the majority of the people so there really isn't much that can be done. Maybe they should have another major vote again to really see where the people stand at this point. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens yet again.

Liberal Democrats showing their true colors

A week after the democrats won the house and senate already you hear them saying they'll raise taxes, give terrorists detainees constitutional rights, give amnesty to illegals. They are against border fences to keep illegals from entering our country, redeploy our troops from Iraq to Okinawa(in other words cut, run and surrender). All this talk of bi-partisanship, working together with republicans makes me laugh, because these liberals are so power hungry, they will do anything to achieve power, so it wouldn't surprise me if they try to make an effort to impeach the president. These liberals are nothing but appeasers and pleasers who don't believe in this war on terror, they want treat this matter as a criminal act that's why they want to give constitutional rights to these terrorists who would do harm to this country.
